IGP Praises DPO Bhakkar Khurram Shakoor

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam applauded the efforts of District Police Officer Bhakkar Khurram Shakoor and his team for ensuring the participation of women in the
polling for general elections in far off Manjhar polling station of Bhakkar, located in, area of Jandawala tehshil Kalorkot district Bhakkar. According to the details, there had been a collision among two rival groups during the  general election of 1997 in which Females had been targeted in skirmish and since then, females were forbidden to vote by the local tribal elders over there. Consequently, women of that area had not utilized their right to vote in general elections of 2002, 2008 and 2013. However, DPO Bhakkar Khurram Shakoor directed the SDPO Kalorkot Muhammad Tahir and SHO Jandawala Inspector Muhammad Shamsheer to engage locals in the talk. The team of police managed to convince the locals for women voting through successful negotiations.
As a result, the women of Jandawala Manjhar casted their votes after 21 years without any fear on 25th July’s general elections in National Assembly constituency NA 97 and Provincial constituency PP89 of Jandawala, tehsil Kolorkot district Bhakkar. IG Punjab has said that honest and dutiful officers are the pride and asset of the department and that all the officers and officials should continue to serve with great enthusiasm and sense of patriotism. He further said that Police Darbars are being established in all the districts of the province to appreciate the young personnel of the force and that the cops who performed security and patrolling duty during elections will be given appreciation certificates.
