A comprehensive security strategy

A comprehensive security strategy has been chalked out with a view to ensure the protection of the Polio Teams and workers across the province so that these teams could discharge their duties without any fear.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Khan Baig while meeting the representatives of Bil Gates Foundation and World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Aslam Chaudhry and Dr. Ubaid-ur-Rehman. Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab for Health, Khwaja Sulman Rafique, Secretary Health, Babar Hayat Tarar, Director General Health, Zahid Pervaiz and Director Health, Dr. Munir Ahmed were also present.

Khwaja Sulman Rafique and Secretary Health briefed the IGP about the working of the Polio Teams. They told that Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the three countries of the world where polio cases have been reported. They also demanded the security for these teams.

Khan Baig assured the delegation that already instructions have been passed to all field officers along with the check posts to remain in touch with the polio teams of their respective areas. The DPOs with the coordination of DCOs will also keep constant liaison with the polio teams on containers and their transaction points. He further told that for the protection of the mothers who reached for the vaccination of their children, Lady Police officials will also remain on duty during the activity.

Later, talking to the media, Provincial Police Chief said that Punjab Police is on high alert to meet the challenges of terrorism and for the purpose surveillance was made more vigilant at all entrances and exit points of the province besides the riverine check posts. All police force is prepared to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements and terrorists.
