IGP orders high security alert in Punjab

LAHORE: IGP Capt Arif Nawaz Khan (retd) ordered a high security alert in province after alleged suicide attack on official vehicle in Attock.

The IGP has directed Lahore CCPO, all RPOs, DPOs and CPOs to tighten security arrangements in their respective regions. He emphasised upon increasing security of sensitive places, educational institutions, worship places and markets and also conduct search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations.

Four-month report on traffic awareness drive issued: City Traffic Police has issued report of four months of current year regarding awareness campaigns designed for citizens for the implementation of traffic rules.

According to the report, during the last four months, city traffic police has designed traffic rules awareness campaign. Forty six special programmes were aired on Traffic FM-Radio. Officers of Road Safety Unit arranged more than 700 seminars and delivered lectures to students of different educational institutions. More than 500 special lectures were delivered to the commercial drivers at different bus stands. Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmad said the basic purpose of awareness campaigns is to sensitise the citizens about traffic rules and save them from fatal accidents.
