National Police Games in March: IG

LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Arif Nawaz Khan has said that for promotion of games and boosting up healthy activities in Police Department, National Police Games 2018 are going to held in the last week of March in Lahore.

The teams of other provinces’ police and other teams of law enforcement institutions will take part in the event. Pakistan Police Sports Board Director General and Additional IG Training and Recruitment Tariq Masood Yaseen said the major aim of National Police Games was to elevate morale of players and also enhance coordination of all units of different police forces in the country. He added that a letter with respect to National Police Games had been sent to the IGs of Sindh, KP, Balochistan, Azad Jamu Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Motorway Police, Islamabad Police and Railway Police and the FIA DG.

The women will take part in 12 different games. The games of hockey, volleyball, basketball, badminton, golf, athletics, judo, karate, practical shooting, tug of war, table tennis, baseball, lawn tennis, rowing, rugby,football, handball, shooting volleyball, Kabaddi (Asian style), bodybuilding, wrestling, taekwondo, cricket, Wushu, swimming, boxing and squash will be played among various teams. The names of the players of all police units and organisations have been sought till Feb 25. After this, a final list of the players and schedule will be issued.

The Pakistan Police Sports Board director general said that promotion of positive and healthy activities for the personnel of police force was need of the hour while good performers would also be encouraged. He said that the arrangements for the National Police Games were in the final phase and all teams coming to Lahore would be hosted warmly according to the tradition.
