New Akbari Gate police station inaugurated

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) retired Capt Amin Wains on Tuesday inaugurated a new two-storey building for Akbari Gate police station.

The old building was becoming unsafe by the day, according to a press release. This is the second police station to get a new building in the city. Earlier, the CCPO had inaugurated a four-storey building for Mozang police station with new features.

Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, Senior Superintendent of Police (Admin) Rana Ayaz Saleem and other senior police officers accompanied the CCPO while inaugurating the Rs41 million building on Tuesday.

Addressing on the occasion, the CCPO said that under a phased programme, new buildings were being provided to Lahore’s filed force. Priorities had changed with the passage of time with a focus on strengthening police stations for being basic unit of the police. It would also help change the ‘thana culture’ which has been the utmost priority of the police higher command.
