IGP chaired a video link conference with RPOs and DPOs...

Inspector General of Police Punjab Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan has said that at least 125,000 officers and officials of Punjab Police would provide foolproof four-layered security cover to the sensitive majalis and processions during Moharram to mainatain law and order in all districts of the province.

He directed all RPOs and DPOs to personally devise security plan of sensitive majalis and processions besides briefing cops about the sensitivity and importance duty keeping in view current security issue.

IGP further asked officers to ensure implementation of timings of majalis and processions and launch search, sweep and combing operations at and around designated places.

IGP expressed these views while chairing a video link conference with RPOs and DPOs at CPO on Thursday. Addl: IGP Operations Punjab, Mohsin Hassan Butt, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Addl: IGP PHP, Amjad Javed Saleemi, Addl: IGP I & V, Ejaz Hussain Shah, DIG Operations Punjab, Amir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Establishment-I, Syed Khurram Ali, DIG Establishment-II, Salman Ch, RPO Sargodha, Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG discipline and Inspection Shahzada Sultan, DIG Special Branch, Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, and other senior officers attended the conference.

IG Punjab was told in the meeting that 124537 police officers and officials including police volunteers, special police and Razakars have been deployed for the security of 36216 majalis. It was further told that 135370 officers and officials will be deployed for the security of 9173 processions of Ashra Moharram.

Arif Nawaz also stressed on the screening and scanning of routes and enhance patrolling in the specific areas.  A detailed code of conduct for Moharram has also been issued under which display of weapons will be banned and laud speaker act will be implemented in its true spirit.

Meanwhile, a Chinese delegation led by Chine Counsel General called on IG Punjab and discussed the matters of mutual interest. IG told the delegation about the functionality of SPU working for the security of foreigners especially Chinese.
