Police vow to ensure peace during Muharram

Gujranwala: City Police Officer Ashfaq Khan has said that all efforts will be made to ensure peace and tranquility during Muharram, adding that religious scholars should play their role for creating brotherhood and love in society.

While addressing a meeting in his office he said that security plan to protect the lives and properties of the people in the district is being finalized. He said walk through gates would be set up at Imam Bargahs and procession routs while large number of police officials and officers will perform duties at the said places also. Chairman peace committee Qari Saleem Zahid, president chamber of commerce Saeed Ahmed Taj, Ulemai Ikram and police officers were also present in the meeting. CPO said that strict action would be done against those who found involved in violence of code of conduct. All the participants including Ulema Ikram assured the CPO for their full cooperation to maintain law and order during Muharram Ul Harram.
