Traffic Police Punjab in collaboration with Motorway Police have made an alternative traffic route and diversion plan to facilitate the commuters and maintain the flow of traffic during the PML (N) rally from GT Road Rawalpindi to Lahore.
People have been requested to contact Motorway Police Helpline 130, Lahore Traffic Police Helpline 15 and Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Traffic Police Helpline 1915 to get the status of the GT Road before starting their journey.
Commuters moving towards Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar from Lahore have been directed to use Motorway and contact traffic police helpline before coming to GT Road.
Traffic police have been directed to divert the traffic of Azad Kashmir and Southern Punjab to alternative routes so that the natives of the areas could not face any problem in their movement. It is expected that the GT Road from Rawalpindi to Jehlum will remain close for all types of traffic on August 9, from Jehlum to Gujranwala on August 10 and from Gujranwala to Lahore on August 11.
Transporters have been requested to use the alternative routes during the said days. He directed the DPOs to divert public transport, ambulances and fire fighting trucks to alternative routes and inform the public through electronic and print media.
