Since the Punjab police are being equipped with modern technology, the Centralized Driving System has been made operational to facilitate the citizens and to save their precious time from unnecessary official procedures.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Khan Baig stated this while addressing at the inaugural ceremony of the first-ever Centralized Driving System at the office of Chief Traffic Officer today.
CCPO Lahore Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed, DIG (Investigation) Zulifqar Hameed and CTO Lahore Sohail Chaudhry were also present on this occasion.
CTO Lahore informed the IGP that six driving booths are working in the DHA, Arfa Karim Technology Park, Liberty Market, Thokar Niaz Baig, and North Cantonment besides another one at CTO Office. All the driving booths are interconnected with main system at the CTO Office. The applicants now can get their duplicate licenses, renewal licenses, and learner permits from the nearby booths in their residential locality rather than visiting the CTO. These driving booths are empowered to conduct driving tests of the applicants as well. The driving booths are working like one-window operation where all the issues of the applicants are being resolved.
On this occasion, IGP Punjab said that the new system would be expanded to all over the Punjab in a phased programme and during the first phase the system would be introduced in five big cities of the province. The IGP directed the authorities to devise a strategy in this regard so that the citizens could be given best services through modern technology.
Meanwhile, talking to media persons the IGP said that the police are investigating the rape case of five-year girl by suing scientific methods and the culprits would be arrested very soon.
