LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Capt Usman Khattak has directed district police officers to establish special control rooms in anticipation of floods in monsoon to keep the authorities updated about the situation.

Through an official letter, the IGP said that these control rooms should be linked directly to the central control rooms of the city police officers.

The police officers were also directed to maintain close liaison with their respective district administrations as well as irrigation departments, flood relief and crisis management department and other relevant government institutions to ensure implementation of the plan.

Additional police force should be kept alert for security of sensitive installations, valuable public property and citizens in any emergency situation, the IGP said.
