Inspector General of Police Punjab, Capt. (R) Usman Khatak has said that all available resources should be utilized to provide security to 33839 Mosques and 2296 Imam Bargahs, all Ramzan Bazars and Dastar’khwans established throughout the province in holy month of Ramazan. IGP also directed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, particularly during Iftaar timings. He directed RPOs and DPOs to personally devise security plan for Ramazan in their respective districts. He further said that field officers should make sure checking of hotels, inns and guest houses, reports of which should be sent to IGP office by Monday.
IGP stated this while chairing a video-link RPOs and DPOs conference held at Central Police Office today. Additional IGP Operations Punjab, Mohsin Hassan Butt, Addl: IGP Discipline and Inspection, Ijaz Hassan Shah, DIG Operations Punjab, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG R & D, Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, RPO Sargodha, Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Establishment-II, Salman Chaudhary, DIG IT, Humayun Bashir Tarar, DIG Discipline and Inspection, Shahzada Sultan, AIG Legislative Business, Waqar Abbasi, AIG Monitoring, Roy Babar Saeed, DPO Mianwali, Sadiq Dogar and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
IGP was briefed in the video-link conference that 83824 police officials including 2965 officers, 21746 jawans, 45944 volunteers and 13169 private security guards will be deployed on security duty of 33839 Mosques and 2296Imam Bargahs across Punjab in Ramazan. 1713 walkthrough gates and 20249 metal detectors will also be used to ensure fool proof security.
IGP directed field officers that during Ramazan, vehicles checking at entry and exit points of all districts should specially be ensured and combing operations in sensitive areas of all districts should regularly be conducted.
IGP Usman Khatak directed DIG Traffic to chalk out special traffic plan for Ramazan in all districts and to monitor preparation and implantation of this plan in person. IGP further said that all available resources should be utilized to ensure smooth flow of traffic, particularly during Iftaar timings.
All necessary steps should be taken to ensure fool proof security in Ramazan, especially during Fajar prayer, Iftaar and Trawih time. Monitoring and briefing of the officials deployed on security duty should be ensured and monitoring teams, consisting of hard-working and responsible officers and officials, should be formed for this purpose, added the IGP.
Police officials should be deployed on rooftops of sensitive Mosques and Imam Bargahs while for security of B and C category Mosques and Imam Bargahs, volunteers, selected in consultation with Mosque Committees and administrators of Imam Bargahs, should be deployed to search worshipers and no one should be allowed to enter the worship place without frisking. IGP also advised that a single passage should be used to enter and exit the worship place and no more than one passageway should be kept opened during prayer time.
While directing about security of banks, IGP said that police should ensure strict implementation of SOPs issued to banks and action should be taken against bank administration who fail to put SOPs into practice, so that public can enjoy banking facilities without any fear.
IGP directed RPOs and DPOs to regularly visit inter-provincial and riverine check-posts in their districts. He also directed to provide maximum facilities to the officials deployed on these check posts and not to take any other duty from them or transfer them somewhere else.
