Directive for updating criminals' data

LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police retired Capt Usman Khattak has directed the police authorities to update photographs, fingerprints and all the particulars of criminals in the Criminal Record Management System (CRMS) on a regular basis.

Reviewing performance of information technology projects of the Punjab Police in a meeting held at the Central Police Office on Thursday, he directed the officers to establish the CRMS offices at the circle level.

According to a handout, the IGP sought a comprehensive plan for this purpose to send it to the government for approval without any delay.

While directing the additional IGP Disciplines and Inspections, he said monthly inspection of the CRMS and human resource management system should be ensured along with inspection of the DPO offices and police stations. This would make sure that all the postings and transfers being done through HRMS, the IGP said.
