Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said that security of worship places of minorities, educational institutes, particularly the ones with co-education, and all important installments should be beefed up. Vantage points should be set on such places at a distance not easily reachable by the attackers in any emergency situation. Armed sentries should be deployed in these vantage points to thwart enemy attack in case of any untoward incident. 

He further directed field officers to revise security plan for census teams in districts where the census is undergoing. Concerned RPOs and DPOs should deploy police officials in civil dress, along with local police, to keep an eye on surroundings and provide security to census teams by maintaining a distance.  

IGP stated this while chairing a video-link RPOs conference held at Central Police Office today. Add: IGP Welfare and Finance, Shoaib Dastgir, Add: IGP Operations Punjab, Mohsin Hassan Butt, DIG Development, Kamran Khan, AIG Operations, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Abbas and SSP CTD, Babar Sarfraz Alpa were also present in the meeting.

He directed all RPOs to personally check security arrangements for census teams, educational institutes, worship places and important installations. They should also ensure effective monitoring and daily briefing to the deployed police officials regarding the sensitivity and importance of their duty, said the IGP. He further said current warlike situation demands us to be more vigilant and fulfill our duties with spirit of Jihad. He directed field officers to expedite the work on all ongoing projects in current year along with making their monitoring more effective. Completion of all these projects should be ensured in current year as planned. DPOs and RPOs should maintain close contact with concerned Buildings Department officers in their districts and must personally visit undergoing project sites on weekly basis.
