Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera has said that Punjab Police have bravely battled the challenge to eliminate terrorism and crimes in the province and gained remarkable success in this regard. Punjab Police stands in best forces of the world because professional competency of force is enhanced to manifold in result of equipping it with latest scientific and information technology, said the IGP. He also said that police officers and officials should treat public in their offices the same way they would behave to their own families. He further advised police officers and officials of division to always help the victimized against the powerful so that justice may prevail. Innocent citizens should not be arrested because it is a huge crime and is against the principals of law. IGP praised the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for increasing compensation package for Police martyrs and upgrading scales of police officials. IGP stated this while addressing Police Darbar held in connection with his retirement at Police Lines, Gujranwala today. District Police Officers, senior and junior police officers and officials of Gujranwala region besides family members of martyrs were also present on the occasion.

IGP said that Punjab Police is one of the best forces and I am proud that I am commander of such a force which has highly commendable history of sacrificing lives in line of duty. He also said that today nature of crimes has changed and controlling incidents of terrorism and extremism require extraordinary performance and dedication. IGP said that credit of all achievements of Punjab Police during his tenure as Provincial Police Chief goes to officers and officials of his force. Officers and officials should carry out their duties with courage and grace and should work for betterment of department and public to come up to the expectations of the citizens.
He said that whatever priorities he had set to make Punjab Police an exemplary force, CM Punjab not only approved them but also provided required resources. He further advised officers and officials to understand departmental rules and regulations and strictly follow them to better serve and protect citizens.
IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera said that sacrifice of senior police officers and officials, who embraced martyrdom in Lahore blast last month, have set examples of bravery and courage to follow. He shared that Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his visit to DIG Ahmad Mubeen’s home for condolence had directed to prepare improved compensation package for martyrs, which was later approved by Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab. He said that the enhanced compensation package for martyrs includes compensation funds of billions of rupees, provision of houses besides free education and health facilities for their families. IGP also told that an excellent package for traffic police officers and officials is also ready. IGP offered Fatiha and laid the wreath on martyrs’ monument in Gujranwala Police Line.

Earlier, Additional IGP, Regional Police Officer Gujranwala Muhammad Tahir in his welcome address lauded the efforts of IGP Mushatq Ahmad Sukhera for making image of police better during his tenure. He said that IGP has taken revolutionary, effective and solid steps like betterment of police department, computerization of police stations, establishment of front desks and IC3 project due to which Punjab police is ready to face the challenges of 21st century. Other provinces are also following the revolutionary steps taken by Punjab police. The tenure of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera will be written in golden words whenever history of Punjab police will be written.
