Nine POs held with drugs, weapons

GUJRANWALA: District police on Sunday arrested at least nine alleged proclaimed offenders (POs) involved in heinous crimes and recovered 2.8kg of hash, 72 litres of liquor and four illegal weapons.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Nadeem Khokhar told reporters that police were taking strict action against criminals and a campaign was going on against proclaimed offenders, narcotics dealers and illegal weapon holders.

Teams of various police stations had arrested nine proclaimed offenders, including Ilyas, Muzzaffar, Naveed, Joseph and others from across the city. Aroop police arrested notorious drug dealer Aqbal Bala and recovered 1.2kg hash as well as Munir with 1.6kg hash from their possessions. Cases were also registered against them.

Cantonment police arrested two members of the allegedly notorious Shahbajoo gang, including Shahbaz and Ali Raza, who were said to be involved in dozens of dacoities. Police also recovered four motorcycles, three mobile phones, two pistols, 80 bullets and Rs20,000 from their possession.
