Inspector General of the Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has high-alerted the security in the province in context of recent wave of terrorism. A number of directions are issued in a circular sent out to the Regional and District Police Officers regarding security, law and order and situation of peace today.
IGP has directed the Police Officers to further beef-up the security and checking of the Mosques, Imambargahs, Shrines and other important places. Movement of the suspicious persons should strictly be monitored and patrolling around sensitive installments should be made more effective.
Strict monitoring of the entry and exit points of the province should be ensured and a vigilant eye should be kept on suspicious persons. No laxity will be tolerated in checking of vehicles, motorcycles and persons crossing the Inter-provincial check posts. Appropriate action should be taken against persons unable to prove their identity. While directing about the security arrangements of the markets, shopping malls, parks, recreational places and educational institutes, IGP said that the monitoring of the police officials deployed on security should be ensured along with giving them briefing regarding sensitivity of their duty.
The circular further directed all RPOs and DPOs to stay in the field and ensure better monitoring of the patrolling and checking points.
