No one should be arrested without evidence, especially in heinous crime cases...

Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said that no one should be arrested without evidence, especially in heinous crime cases because this is against the principles of justice to arrest only on basis of doubt. He directed circle officers to conduct surprise visits of the police stations and seek information regarding their duties and performance from officials working under them, to give them a feeling of kindredness. IGP also directed to take special care of welfare of the force as it is not possible to get results from the force without giving priority to their welfare.

He further said, 74 officers are promoted in accordance with the merit, on the basis of their performance and seniority. Now this is responsibility of the officers to work with sincerity and according to the merit on their duty stations. Particularly, officers should deal the cases of victimized and helpless persons on priority basis.

Inspector General Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera stated this during a non-formal meeting with police officers, recently promoted from the rank of the Inspector to Deputy Superintendent of Police, held at Central Police Office on Wednesday to congratulate and guide them regarding their duties.
