Sargodhra Police Foiled Terrorism Plan; arrested 2 terrorists of banned outfits. Recovered 5 hand grenades, 37 explosive devices, 2 Kg explosive material used in suicide jackets, 7 Kalashnikovs along with 695 bullets

Regional Police Officer Sargodha, Zulfiqar Hameed has said that Punjab Police is carrying-out search operations regularly to ensure safety of public lives and property especially during Muharam-ul-Haram, following the directions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

He was speaking to journalists during a press conference in Sargodha today along with District Police Officer, Muhammad Sohail Chaudhary.

He said that Police team led by SP Investigation Bilal Iftikhar has arrested two terrorists of banned outfits identified as Usman Muavia and Qari Ijaz. He further told that “Police team got intimation that two suspects carrying suspicious bags were spotted hiding in bushes. Police team rushed to the hideout and arrested two accused and recovered suspicious bags from their possession. Police recovered five hand grenades, 37 explosive devices, 2 Kg explosive material used in suicide jackets, 7 Kalashnikovs and 695 bullets from their possession.

 During initial investigation, arrested accused revealed that they had planned to use the captured arms and explosives in terrorist activities during Muharam-ul-Haram in Sargodha and adjacent districts. They had planned to stay on this secluded site for a while, before leaving to their targets. The arrested terrorists also revealed that they got training from Afghanistan and were affiliated to Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and TTP. They have also trained terrorists’ in Wana, South Waziristan Agency and are expert of manufacturing suicide vests.

District Police Officer Sargodha Muhammad Sohail Chaudhary told journalists that “Sargodha Police had been carrying out intelligence based operations since last two weeks, during which large number of suspects and criminals were interrogated and arrested. “The recent success is also result of same series of search operations which has saved Punjab from a disastrous destruction,” DPO Suhail Chaudhry said, adding that the seized arms and ammunition had to be used for disastrous activities across Punjab but immediate action taken by Police had saved millions of lives. Public is requested to be aware of their surroundings and instantly inform Police of any suspicious activity.
