To finalize the security arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha, Chinese experts working on province wide projects, courts, media houses, educational institutes and worship places of minorities, and to review law and order and crime situation in Punjab, a video link RPO Conference under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera held at CPO, Lahore, today.  

All RPOs and DPOs through video link whereas, Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations / Investigations Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP PHP, Amjad Javaid Saleemi, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Commandant PC Farooqabad, Hussain Asgher, Addl: IGP Special Branch, Punjab, Faisal Shahkar and other senior police officers were present in the conference.

All field officers were directed to follow the Eid-ul-Fitar security SOP on the occasion of forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha. It was decided in the conference that 57618 police officers / officials will be deployed for the security of 17383 mosques of all faiths and 1350 open prayer places. Among these 34723 Punjab police officials and 22895 special police and PQR officials will perform their duties. During security duties 12268 metal detectors, 348 walk through gates and 35137 CCTV cameras will be used. These security officials will also monitor Banks, Government Buildings, Markets, Railway Stations, Bus Terminals, Schools and Media Houses and patrolling will also be increased. Operational strategy directions are also issued to all field officers in this regard.

The conference also decided to utilize the services of Punjab forensic science agency (PFSA) through their satellite offices established in various regions with a view to expedite the investigation process and collection and preservation of evidences of heinous incidents. All field officers were also directed to take on board the forensic experts for the purpose.

Security of the courts was also reviewed in detail in the conference and it was decided that all field officers will establish close liaison with the representatives of Bars and Courts. It was also decided that at all entry points of the courts besides, police official a court representative will also be present at duty so that the practice of fake entries of lawyers could be stopped.

While finalizing the security of the banks, it was decided that the security SOP already issued in this regard will strictly be implemented and all SDPOs and SHOs will be duty bound to visit the banks in their respective areas on weekly basis. They will also ensure to check the vantage points besides the fitness of the security officials, their weapon and CCTV cameras, simultaneously. In case of security implementation failure, the concerned branch manager will be called by the SHO at police station and a notice will be served to him in this regard.

The security of the foreign experts particularly, the Chinese was reviewed in detail in conference and it was decided that their residences, transits and the project sites will be fully protected and no negligence in this regard would be acceptable.

The conference decided that the misuse of loudspeaker in the province will be stopped and a “Zero Tolerance” policy will be followed in this matter. It was also decided that the cases will be registered against the violators and the loudspeakers will be confiscated.

The conference also decided to monitor the handicapped children bagging around the hot-spot areas with a view to determine whether they are genuinely disabled or some gang is working behind to do so. Moreover, the monitoring of the persons who were working for the bail of juvenile offenders, across Punjab will also be ensured to find out the actual relatives or some other elements are involved in their bail procedures and formalities.
