Paperless policing and computerization of all sections of the police is the only source through which the valuable time and money of the people could be saved by providing them prompt and timely justice. This is the reason that the front desk’s staff is being empowered by de-linking them with the role of moharrar and SHOs in police stations.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing a high level meeting held at Central Police Office, Lahore, today to review the progress of computerization and data entry process of HRMIS, Service Roles, Legal Branch, Bio-matric system, Police Website, Police Complaint Center (PCC), Finger Prints and other I.T based initiatives. Addl: IGP Operations / Investigation Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Legal, Ali Zulnorain, DIG Operations Punjab Amir Zulfiqar, DIG I.T Shahid Hanif, DIG Headquarters, B.A Nasir and other senior police officers of CPO also attended the meeting.
While briefing about the front desks, AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz told the IGP that 1,234 more, I.T oriented officials for front desks have been hired through NTS under a very transparent procedure. These selected officials were included 132 Senior Stations Assistant and 1102 Police Station Assistant which will be appointed at rest of police station’s front desks of Punjab after completion of their medical, security and other verifications. Their training process will be completed very shortly told AIG Finance.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera was further briefed that under HRMIS system the service roles of the force is also being computerized. He was also told that among 1,87,766 sanctioned executive posts, 1,47,703 officer’s salary record has been entered into the data system which also included 4,512 ministerial staff and 6,654 menial staff.
The meeting also reviewed in detail the preparation of software for legal branch for which AIG Legal Ahsan Younas told the IGP that the disposal of the matters by the courts, alerts regarding implementation of court directions with legal time frame, data entry of decisions finalized by the honorable courts, history of the pending cases, status of the various petition’s Apps are being incorporated in this software, added AIG Legal. The PPO directed the legal department to expedite this data entry system so that all steps of criminal justice system could be settled to ensure the timely justice without wasting any time.
Mushtaq Sukhrea also reviewed the performance of the Police Complaint Center (PCC) in detail. While briefing on this occasion, AIG Complaints, Syed Khurram Ali Shah told the IGP that during last 8 months the PCC has received 16,286 complaints through various sources. Among these 6,531 were received through 8787 call service, 4,402 through post, 1,276 by SMS, 2,553 by Khuli Kachehri, whereas, 1,524 though E-mail and other sources.
He was also told that among these 11,458 received complaints have been redressed from which 4,275 complainants have been provided relief, whereas, 1,474 have been disposed of on being non-cognizable and 4,070 proved to be false. Among received complaints 1,639 have been compromised whereas, the working on rest of 4,828 is under process, added the AIG complaints.
The bio-metric system was also discussed in the meeting and DIG Operations, Lahore, Dr. Haider Ashraf told the IGP about the progress of this system in all 6 divisions of Lahore and claimed of completion of 70 to 80 percent attendance through this bio-metric system. He also assured the IGP that the rest of force will also be the part of this system very shortly.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera paid rich tribute while appreciating the performance of the Punjab police particularly, the 57000 deployed officials for Eid-ul-Azha security duties across Punjab by putting their lives at risk and sacrificing their Eid happiness. He said that their efforts are really commendable and I salute my dedicated and diligent force.
During the meeting, the combing operations which were started before Eid were also reviewed in detail and in this regard Addl: IGP Operations / Investigations Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz told the IGP that before Eid during last 5 days 1,245 combing operations have been conducted in Punjab during which 27,658 persons have been questioned. He also told that 288 hardened P.Os have also been captured by the police and 659 cases have registered during the period. Moreover, 1,369 persons have been arrested and 305 weapons from them have been recovered by the police during such combing operations.
