To chalk out the security strategy for the forthcoming celebrations of 14th August, 2016 in the province, control and stop the menace of one wheeling and to rescue the ran away children from hotspot areas and establishment of special teams in this regard are the main decisions of the IGP for which the implementation progress was reviewed today in a meeting held at CPO, Lahore today. All field officers were present through video link, whereas, senior officers of CPO were also present.
Regarding the security on the occasion of 14th August, it was decided that no government and private celebrations and activities could be arranged without getting the approval of the district intelligence committee which will be comprising of the DCO, DPO and representatives of intelligence agencies in each district. All vulnerable points including Important Government and Sensitive Buildings, Banks, Offices, Business Centers, Public Parks, Important Highways, Railway Stations, Bus Terminals and other important areas will be divided in to three categories A+, A and B, under the security strategy finalized by the Provincial Police Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of already continued crack down against the one wheelers in Punjab. Under the instructions of the IGP, the decision of strict legal action will be taken against those mechanics who involved in designing the motorcycles for one wheeling purpose. Zero tolerance policy will be implemented in case of violation of one wheeling and strict legal action will be taken against the violators and their motorcycles will be impounded under section 99-A of Motor Vehicle Ordinance.
IG Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera also decided to constitute Children Rescue Teams across Punjab, who will be responsible to rescue the ran away children and re-unite them with their families. These teams which will be headed by two inspectors will not only search the hotspot areas of big cities like Railway Stations, Green Markets, Bus Stands, Darbars and Hotels but will be also responsible to help these children to reunite them with their families. The progress report of these teams will be furnished before the IGP on daily basis, decided in the meeting.
