If the force performed their duties honestly for the protection of the people and provision of justice according to the expectations of the public, government and police department, they should not need any approach for getting titles and ranks it chased them automatically. Force should also boosted up its morale and have to deliver on merit without influencing any kind of pressure.

These views were expressed by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing Police Darbar of passed out and under training 671 professionals including 34 lady officers at Elite Police Training School Bedian, Lahore, today. Addl: IGP Operations / Investigation Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz and other senior police officers were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion Mushtaq Ahamd Sukhera told that the department always acknowledged and recognized the sacrifices of the police officers and officials who embraced martyrdom during their duties and this is the reason that the proposals are under consideration to devise the Shaheed package into three categories. In first category those who got shahadat during terrorism act could get 10 million, during encounters with criminals and dacoits / P.Os could get 5 million and those who died during official duties can get 2.5 million rupees package. He said that Punjab police department is also paying more benevolent fund as compare to other departments which starts from 5 to 10 thousands. He further said that in addition to this one thousand rupees per child is also being paid to the shaheed families including the recruitment of two children in police department. Moreover, the best medical assistance is being paid for treatment to those police officers / officials who suffered from serious medical issues like kidney failure, liver and heart related medical problems.

The PPO further said that with a view to improve the quality of the police uniform, in first phase the “Thekedari” System has been abolished and the uniform fabric will be directly purchased from manufacturers. Similarly, in second phase the Pakistan Army’s uniform policy will be introduced in police department under which the force will be given uniform allowance and they can have the stitched uniform. He further said that keeping in view the weather conditions, the color and pattern of the uniform is being changed and the standard Shirt will be replaced with bow-shirt and woolen cap with cotton cap, added the IGP.

Mushtaq Sukhera also stressed upon the participants that they should have the soft behavior and have to control on their nerves so that any untoward situation could be avoided. He further said that the department is focusing on quality investigation and this is the reason that the investigation cost is being paid before the task.

He also directed the female officers that they should perform very professionally parallel with their male colleagues because once someone wear the police uniform there should not be any differentiation between the male and female. He further said that this is the reason that he changed the pattern of the uniform of the female officers so that the gender discrimination should be ended.

While answering the questions of the participants, IGP said that he will directed the field officers to allow them for one weekly off along with the casual leaves as per government rules. He also stressed upon the force to focus on their fitness as it is the basic requirement of the disciplined force.

Mushtaq Sukhera told that the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will also interact with you directly in near future. He said that all I.T initiatives of Punjab Police including Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), 8787, Complaint Handling Center (CHC) and Front Desks have become an example for the rest of other provinces and now they are trying to introduce these systems in their respective police departments.

IGP told that 200 police station’s record has been completely computerized and under this plan the rest of police stations will be completed in December and in this way the role of moharrar will not only be minimized but the corruption element could also be eliminated.
