Renowned lawyer and retired session judge and father of Addl: IGP Operation / Investigation Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz died in Lahore today after short illness. His namaz-e-janaza was offered at Jamia Masjid Qurban Lines Lahore where Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, Addl: IGP Training, Capt. (R) Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Commandant Punjab Constabulary, Hussain Asghar, CCPO Lahore, Capt. (R) Amin Wainse, Addl: IGP CTD, Rai Tahir, Addl: IGP PHP, Amjad Javed Saleemi, Addl: IGP Special Branch Punjab, Faisal Shahkar and other senior police officers attended the funeral prayer. Later the funeral of Meher Muhammad Nawaz Khan was held at his ancestral village, Chak No.18/14L, Cheecha Watni, District Sahiwal where renowned politicians, Lawyer Community, RPO Multan, CPO Multan, DPO Sahiwal, senior police officers and large number of citizens attended his funeral.
Late Meher Muhammad Nawaz was born in chak No.18/14L Cheecha Watni. He completed his early education from Cheecha Watni and get L.L.B’s degree from Lahore and started practice as lawyer from Sahiwal. In 1964 he was appointed as civil judge and retired in 1999 as session judge. He also served in supreme court and high court as practicing lawyer.
Late Meher Nawaz left 4 sons including Addl: IGP Operations / Investigation, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Shahid Nawaz (government servant), Zahid Nawaz (PIA), Tahir Nawaz (session judge) and one daughter, behind.
His Rasm-e-Qul will be offered on June 19, 2016, Sunday during Namaz-e-Asar to Maghrib at Jamia Masjid, Qurban Lines, Lahore.
