In order to review the progress of Special Protection Unit (SPU) established for the Security of Chinese experts working on various development projects in Punjab, performance of Homicide Investigation unit, Inspection of Maal Khanas, establishment of Police Complaint Authority, Proportionate Allocation of newly creating vacancies and including other important issues, a high level meeting was chaired today by Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

Shafique Ahmad, DIG Headquarters, B.A Nasir, DIG I.T, Shahid Hanif, DIG SPU, Agha Yousaf, DIG Operations, Aamir Zulfiqar, DIG R&D, Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, AIG Operations, Ahsan Younis, AIG Development, Kamran Khan, AIG Logistics, Humayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz, AIG Monitoring, Waqas-ul-Hassan, AIG Admin:, Zubair Dreshak, AIG Legal Kamran Adil and other senior officers of CPO were also present  in the meeting.

IGP said that the provision of fool proof security to Chinese Experts is our national responsibility and this is the reason that the process of hiring of 4076 Security Constables for Special Protection Unit has been completed.

DIG SPU, Agha Yousaf also told that the 6 month training of these constables is under process. He further told that the use of modern weapons, equipments and other gadgets is the part of this training. He also told that the first batch will be passed out on September 15, and will be immediately posted on these 16 projects. Agha Yousaf told that the process of hiring of 600 retired Army Personnels for operational duties of SPU will be completed very soon.

While reviewing the progress of recently established, Homicide Investigation Units across Punjab, DIG Investigation Punjab Ch. Shafiq Ahmad told the IGP that 192 Vehicles equipped with all necessary investigation kits and other accessories have been handed over to these Units.

SSP Investigation Punjab Waqas ul Hassan told that the Audit of Maal Khanas across Punjab has been completed so for.

The meeting also decided that under the instructions of Govt of Punjab recommendations and Suggestions regarding the establishment of Provincial Police Complaint Authority (PPCA) its members, their Nos. and working pattern will be furnished before the Governament for approval.

Decision regarding the shifting of the offices of PHP and SPU in Abass Lines, Lahore was also finalized. In CPO only their Camp offices will remain functional decided by Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera in this meeting.

To maintain the discipline and observe the transparency of the POL record of all Police Vehicles will be computerized and this system will directly be attached with the MT wing of the Police Department.
