In order to restrict the mobility of the terrorist, to stop the criminal activities of kidnapping for ransom, cattle theft and to prevent the transportation of the theft vehicles from the province and to bracket the movement of the criminals to reach their safe hideouts through river ways, 687 constables recruited for 49 riverine posts established for the purpose have completed their basic recruit course. Among which the first batch comprising of 183 constables has also completed the combat training course of three months under the supervision of Pakistan Army.
This was disclosed in a meeting held in connection with to review the affaires of this riverine force, under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at Central Police Office, Lahore, today. Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations / Investigation, Capt (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP PHP, Amjad Javaid Saleemi, DIG Establishment-I, Azhar Hamid Khokhar, DIG Establishment-II, Sulman Chaudhry, DIG Headquarters, B.A Nasir, DIG I.T, Shahid Hanif, DIG Operations, Aamir Zulfiqar, DIG R&D, Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, AIG Operations, Ahsan Younis, AIG Development, Kamran Khan, AIG Logistics, Humayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz, AIG Legal Kamran Adil and other senior officers of CPO were also present in the meeting.
While briefing in this regard, Addl: IGP PHP, Amjad Javaid Saleemi told the IGP that all 49 posts are fully operational which were established 5 in Attock, 7 Mianwali, Bhakkar 3, Layyah 3, D.G Khan 9, Muzaffargarh 8, Rajanpur 4 and 10 in Rahim Yar Khan.
IGP was told that the construction work of 19 posts have been completed whereas, the rest of work will be completed by the end of this financial year. IGP also directed the concerned officers to prepare the recommendations for the establishment of four additional posts in district Rajanpur.
The PPO was also told that all required H.R, ammunition, weapons, and funds have also been provided for each post. He was also briefed that the required transport was already handed over to these posts which were included 49 police pickups, 98 motorcycles and 49 motorboats.
Addl: IGP PHP, further told that the second batch is getting the combat training under the supervision of Pakistan Army, whereas, the third awaited batch will start its training after the completion of second batch’s training.
