Schoolboy Recovered, Three Kidnappers Taken Into Custody

FAISALABAD: Police have recovered an eight-year-old boy and arrested three of his kidnappers who had demanded Rs10m ransom for his release.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, City Police Officer Afzaal Kausar said the child, Ahmed Munir, was kidnapped by three car riders from New Nazimabad on April 13 when he was on the way to school in a rickshaw. The kidnappers had snatched the mobile phone of the rickshaw driver and started demanding the ransom one day after the kidnapping.
According to the CPO, Factory Area police had registered a case on the complaint of Ahmed’s mother, Iram Munir, and launched the investigation.
The kidnappers had also sent a video of the victim to Ms Munir, ensuring her of possession of the child and managed to get Rs1.9m from the family.
The CPO added that police HAD arrested three suspects, including Umer of Chak 226-RB, Mohsin Ali of New Nazimabad and their facilitator Raheel Liaqat of the same area who was also a neighbour of Ms Munir with the help of their mobile phones.
He said two other suspects, Bilal of Malkhanwala and Irfan of Chak 39-JB, Dagora, were still at large.
