Punjab Police is facing the challenges of terrorism and fighting the war on terror on front line, yet its officers/personnel achieved different significant and remarkable achievements in connection with combating against terrorism, curbing crimes, eradication of criminal elements and maintenance of law & order across the province.
This was stated by the Inspector General of Police Punjab, Javed Iqbal while addressing to 16 member delegation headed by Dr. Faizanur Rahman, Chief Instructor of National Institute of management, Peshawar at CPO today. Addl. IG Training Sarmad Saeed and SSP Rifat Mukhtar Raja were also present on the occasion.
Addl. IG Operations Rafiq Hasan briefed the visiting participants of the course about the working and structure of the Punjab Police Department. Rafiq Hasan briefed that Punjab Police has arrested 90723 Proclaimed Offenders and 45430 Court Absconders during last years 2010. He told that as a result of 69 incident of Bombs Blast from 2008 to March 2011 about 833 persons were killed and 2383 were injured whereas 226 police officers/officials get martyrdom and 228 were injured.
The participants of 11th Mid Career management Course were told the steps were underway to equip the Punjab Police department with modern technology and training facilities for the capacity building of the department. In view of the present security concerns in the country the Punjab Police in collaboration with the Pak Army prepared Special quick response force comprising police personnel to deal with the threats of terrorism in the province.
A successful operation by the Punjab Police is still going on in Rajanpure against Kidnapping added by Addl. IG Oprs.
Later, IGP Javed Iqbal presented a shield to Chief Instructor of the said Academy. Chief Instructor Dr. Faizanur Rahman appreciated the IGP and Addl. IG Operation for their hospitality and cooperation.
