Over Rs153m for medical treatment of cops’ children

LAHORE:More than Rs153.5 million have been released this year for the treatment of special children of police employees posted in Lahore and various other districts. Providing details, the spokesperson for Punjab Police said that a total of more than Rs109.8 million has been provided to 760 children suffering from Cerebral Palsy. More than Rs31.4 million released for 178 children affected by Thalassemia for medical expenses. More than Rs8.4 million provided for the treatment of 77 children suffering from various serious diseases; Rs 1.859 million released for 10 children suffering from cancer and bone marrow transplant-related illnesses, Rs1.19 million provided to five children undergoing treatment for heart and kidney diseases, while more than Rs872,000 has been released for the treatment of 13 children suffering from various hearing disorders. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that the best possible measures are being taken for the treatment of children of police employees suffering from various serious diseases. He said that under the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed with various renowned hospitals, treatment facilities are also being provided to the children of police employees at discounted rates. IGP said that comprehensive welfare measures are continuing to make the lives of special children of police employees easier and more dignified.
