Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem chaired a meeting of the Police Welfare Board at the Central Police Office Lahore, during which multiple important measures for the welfare of police employees and their families were approved. The meeting was attended by the Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Welfare & Finance, Additional IG Training, Additional IG Operations, Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), Commandant Punjab Constabulary, DIG Traffic Punjab, DIG Headquarters, and other senior officers. DIG Welfare & Finance Mehboob Rasheed presented various proposals aimed at further enhancing the welfare of police employees. Members of the Police Welfare Board reviewed the proposals in detail and expressed consensus on improving the proposed welfare measures. Punjab Police spokesperson stated that the Police Welfare Board approved increasing the wedding gift for each daughter of a police martyr from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 750,000. The wedding gift for daughters of police employees who die during service has been increased from Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 500,000, while the wedding gift for daughters of serving and retired police employees has been increased from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 250,000.
The full fee of specialized private institutions has been approved as an educational scholarship for children of police employees (Grades 1 to 17) who secure admission to degree programs in Engineering, Medical, MBBS, and Business Administration. The Educational scholarship for children of Class-IV employees of Punjab Police studying for matriculation has been increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000. Similarly, the annual scholarship for children of police employees enrolled in intermediate programs has been increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000. The annual educational scholarship for children of police employees pursuing graduation and BS (Honours) has been fixed at a minimum of Rs. 60,000. The educational scholarship for autistic children of police employees has been increased from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 75,000, while the therapy and study fund for autistic children has been enhanced from Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 1.5 million. Punjab Police spokesperson further stated that the medical grant for police employees suffering from benign cancer has been increased from Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 400,000, while the grant for their wives and children has been increased from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 200,000. For police employees suffering from malignant cancer, the medical grant has been increased from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1 million, while the grant for their wives and children has been increased from Rs. 250,000 to Rs. 500,000. Similarly, in case of minor surgery, the financial grant for police employees has been increased from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 150,000, while the grant for their wives and children has been increased from Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 100,000.
