On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police ensured stringent security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) gatherings, rallies and processions across Lahore and the province. IG Punjab had directed that security be kept on high alert and additional personnel be deployed at sensitive locations. IG Punjab directed supervisory officers to keep a close watch on miscreants and anti-state elements and ensure strict compliance with security SOPs for the peaceful conduct of processions, rallies and Milad gatherings on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 55,000 officers and personnel were deployed across the province for the security of 1,436 Milad gatherings and 2,479 processions. In Lahore, 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings were held on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), for which more than 8,000 officers, personnel and volunteers performed security duties.
IG Punjab urged all schools of thought to promote inter-sectarian and interfaith harmony and tolerance on the sacred occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). Security orders should be implemented in close consultation with peace committees, religious scholars and community leaders. Continuous monitoring of Milad gatherings, rallies and processions was carried out through Safe City cameras, while moment-to-moment monitoring of the 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal programs was also ensured through police control rooms. IG Punjab directed all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to personally supervise the security arrangements for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that Police, Traffic Police, Elite, Special Branch and CTD teams assisted in the security arrangements, while all conventional and modern policing resources were utilized for the security of Milad gatherings, processions and rallies. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem commended Punjab Police in Lahore and across the province for excellent security and traffic arrangements on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), saying that the peaceful conduct of processions, rallies and Milad gatherings on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal was ensured with the cooperation of the district administration and security institutions.
IG Punjab commended DIG Operations, CTO Lahore, RPOs, DPOs and traffic officers for their excellent performance, saying that foolproof security for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) programs was ensured through teamwork. Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling, while CTD, Special Branch, all other police units, allied departments and security agencies demonstrated excellent working relationships. IG Punjab said that the role of police officers and personnel in ensuring the security of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations remained commendable. Religious scholars, peace committees, citizens and the media also demonstrated full cooperation and responsibility. In connection with the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), police offices, buildings and police stations across the province, including the Central Police Office, were decorated with colorful lights and illuminations.
