Central Police Office: IG Punjab Holds Press Conference
Final forensic report received regarding the deaths of two women in Township; presence of nine different types of drugs confirmed in samples

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, accompanied by the CCPO Lahore and DIG Investigation Lahore, held a press conference at the Central Police Office, Lahore. He stated that a transparent investigation had been conducted from every aspect into the deaths of two women within the jurisdiction of Township Police Station, Lahore. According to the available medical report, both women died due to excessive drug use. The Medical Board found no evidence of physical violence, external injury, or wounds. The magisterial inquiry conducted under Section 176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure also found no evidence of police torture.
Complete CCTV footage of the incident was reviewed, while statements of the concerned police officers and witnesses were also recorded. Both women had been brought to Township Police Station following action taken on a 15 emergency call. Upon receipt of the complainant’s written application, FIR No. 1476/26 under Sections 379/420 PPC was registered immediately. Both women had previous records in multiple cheating/fraud cases, while cases had also been registered against them in Lahore and Gujrat. According to CCTV footage, the women’s clothes appeared to be torn even before they were taken into police custody.
The preliminary observations of the Medical Board revealed multiple injection marks on the women’s arms, consistent with repeated injection use. The Punjab Forensic Science Authority collected the necessary forensic samples, and its report has also been received. According to the final forensic report, the presence of nine different types of drugs was confirmed in the samples of both women. According to the Medical Board’s report, both women died due to combined drug toxicity, while the Board unanimously determined that the cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that, as Inspector General of Punjab Police, he believes in the supremacy of law and transparent accountability. No one will be considered above the law. IG Punjab further stated that there has been significant progress in the Hina Javed murder case in Rawalpindi. Three suspects have been nominated in the FIR, while two have been arrested. Through effective investigation, Rawalpindi Police established that an incident initially reported as suicide was in fact murder, thereby uncovering the facts. The investigation is continuing on merit, and all responsible elements will be brought to justice.
IG Punjab said that efforts are underway to arrest the shooters involved in the Abdullah Tahir murder case. The shooters involved in the case fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and their current whereabouts have not yet been conclusively established. Investigation and legal proceedings are continuing for the arrest of the suspects. Regarding the reorganization of the Dolphin Force, IG Punjab said that it has been decided to place its command and control under the local SHOs. The Dolphin Force is being reorganized to make its performance more effective. Work is also underway to acquire modern electric bikes for the Dolphin Force, while new motorcycles have been provided to Murree Police for patrolling and effective policing.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that the Chief Minister Punjab has directed strict implementation of a zero-tolerance policy for the elimination of the menace of corruption. To prevent corruption, the accountability system of the Internal Accountability Branch (IAB) is being further strengthened. All RPOs and DPOs have been directed to deal with elements involved in corruption with an iron hand. There is no room for corruption in the police, and transparent investigation of complaints and indiscriminate action will be ensured.
Furthermore, regarding the Ghaziabad rape case, IG Punjab stated that police took immediate action and arrested the suspect. The initial MLC of the victim was conducted and the required medical tests were carried out, while the suspect also underwent a potency test. The relevant forensic parcels were obtained and submitted, and DNA examination was also conducted. CCTV footage from all cameras at Ghaziabad Police Station, including the front desk, was secured and taken into possession. Statements of the victim, complainant, relatives, and other relevant persons were recorded. Site plans were prepared, while the suspect’s motorcycle was also taken into possession. The movement and locations of the suspect and the victim at different times were also reviewed. Safe City CCTV footage was checked and preserved on a CD, while CCTV footage from local cameras relevant to the investigation was also obtained.
All personnel found negligent were suspended and departmental inquiries were initiated against them. Sessions for assessment of the victim’s mental health were conducted at the Punjab Institute of Mental Health. According to the report of the Punjab Institute of Mental Health, the woman has a mild intellectual disability. The PFSA report has been received. According to the PFSA report, the DNA of suspect Imran, ASI, did not match the samples of the victim. Further investigation into the Ghaziabad case is being completed on merit, and the suspect will be brought to justice and awarded punishment according to law.
