Over 8,000 cops deployed for Eid Milad security, says IGP

LAHORE:Punjab Police has completed all arrangements to provide comprehensive security to the religious gatherings, rallies and processions being held across the province, including Lahore, on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal and the celebrations of Eid Milad. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem said that security would remain on high alert during the Eid Milad programmes, while strict surveillance would be maintained over miscreants and anti-state elements. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 55,000 officers and personnel would be deployed for the security of 1,436 Milad gatherings and 2,479 processions across the province, while 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings would be held in City.

More than 8,000 officers, personnel and volunteers would perform security duties in the provincial capital.IGP directed that strict security arrangements in accordance with the SOPs be ensured for all processions, rallies and gatherings, while additional personnel should be deployed at sensitive locations. The gatherings and rallies should be monitored with the help of Safe City cameras. While preparing the security order, the consultation and suggestions of peace committees, religious scholars and community leaders should be taken into consideration. He directed all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to personally supervise the security arrangements and said that moment-by-moment monitoring of the security arrangements for all programmes should be ensured through control rooms. Punjab Police spokesperson said that teams from police, traffic police, elite, special branch and CTD would assist in the security arrangements.
