IG Punjab reviews security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), crime control and other important matters. Security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) should be made stricter than last year, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem. More than 55,000 police officers and personnel will perform security and traffic duties during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
A meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem was held at the Central Police Office to review security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), crime control and other important matters. In view of the prevailing border situation, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that stricter security arrangements than last year be ensured for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). RPOs and DPOs were directed to formulate comprehensive security plans for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) while keeping last year’s security orders in view. More than 55,000 police officers and personnel will perform security and traffic duties on the occasion. IG Punjab directed that additional personnel be deployed at sensitive locations and at Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions, religious gatherings and other events across the districts.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed RPOs and DPOs to continue effective measures to sustain the significant decline in crime. He said that protection of the lives and property of citizens and elimination of crime are the Punjab Police’s foremost priorities. IG Punjab also directed that the process of repatriation of all illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan nationals, be further expedited. The briefing revealed that the Punjab Police has so far ensured the repatriation of more than 120,000 illegally residing Afghan and other foreign nationals.
IG Punjab ordered further tightening of security during the police custody and movement of under-trial prisoners. He said that strict action would be taken against the officers concerned in case of any incident involving the escape of an under-trial prisoner from police custody. He directed RPOs and DPOs to further improve the day-to-day supervision and monitoring of police station affairs. He also ordered that proclaimed offenders associated with proscribed organizations involved in anti-state activities be arrested without fail.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem appreciated the Investigation Police for its improved performance in the recovery of missing women. He directed DPOs to constitute special teams for the recovery of missing women and submit performance reports every 15 days. Additional IG Investigation Punjab, Additional IG Operations, DIG Monitoring, AIG Operations, AIG Administration & Security and other senior officers attended the meeting. Additional IG South Punjab, CCPO Lahore, Additional IG CTD, RPOs, CPOs, DPOs and other relevant officers participated in the meeting through video link.
