Punjab Police spokesperson said that Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq, Head Constable Asad and Constable Haris Saleem embraced martyrdom after being fired upon by the accused last night. The three police officials were martyred in firing by Rehan Butt and his accomplices. Rehan Butt had also been making threatening phone calls to Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq, while a case had also been registered against Rehan Butt on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq. Accused Faizan Butt, a shooter, was killed in an encounter with the CTD in 2024, after which his brother Rehan Butt harboured a grudge against the police. Rehan Butt held a grudge because Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq had killed his brother in a police encounter.
