More than 10,000 Arrested, 9,724 Cases Registered, Hundreds of Thousands of Kites and Thousands of String Reels Recovered Across Punjab This Year for Anti-Kite Flying Act Violations: Punjab Police Spokesperson
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police are continuing operations across the province against those violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act. Providing details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that during the current year, more than 10,000 accused were arrested and 9,724 cases were registered across Punjab, including Lahore, for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act. During these operations, 479,598 kites and 15,518 string reels were also recovered. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that in the provincial capital, Lahore, 4,769 accused were arrested and 4,589 cases were registered. In Lahore, 126,488 kites and 5,168 string reels were recovered.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has issued clear directions that kite flying will not be tolerated anywhere across the province, and strict and indiscriminate legal action must be taken against those involved in this dangerous activity. He further directed that those involved in the online sale and trade of metallic string and kites should also be brought to justice. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem appealed to parents to keep their children away from this deadly activity, while urging citizens to immediately report any incident of kite flying by calling 15 and fulfil their responsibility as law-abiding citizens.
