Special Training Session on PPRA Rules and the E-Procurement System Organized for Punjab Police Officers
Online E-Procurement System Will Ensure Transparency and Save Time and Costs, IG Punjab
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, met Managing Director of the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Sahibzadi Wasimah Umer, at the Central Police Office. During the meeting, discussions were held on the Punjab Government’s modern e-procurement system, PPRA Rules, and measures to further enhance the efficiency and transparency of the government procurement process.
On this occasion, a special training session was also organized for Punjab Police officers and officials on the features, usage, and relevant rules and regulations of the PPRA e-procurement system. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem appreciated this important training initiative for Punjab Police and said that the online e-procurement system would ensure transparency in the government procurement process in accordance with rules and regulations, while also resulting in significant savings in time and costs. He said that the use of modern technology would further improve the performance and governance of the department. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem and MD PPRA Sahibzadi Wasimah Umer also exchanged commemorative souvenirs. The training session was attended by DIG Logistics and Procurement Shariq Kamal Siddiqui, DIG Technical Procurement Sahibzada Bilal Umar, AIG Logistics Faisal Shahzad, AIG Procurement Rizwan Umar Gondal, along with other senior officers and officials of Punjab Police.
MD PPRA Sahibzadi Wasimah Umer briefed the participants in detail on the various features of the e-procurement system, its operating procedures, and the PPRA Rules. She said that under the Punjab Government’s e-procurement project, the procurement system of all government departments has been shifted online, enabling institutions to place their orders online in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations. She further said that all stages of procurement, including bidding, evaluation, and order placement, are now being completed online, while procurement systems in developed countries are also being operated through modern online platforms.
Sahibzadi Wasimah Umer said that the e-procurement system would provide government institutions with better opportunities to procure quality goods at competitive prices, while the requirements of transparency and accountability would also be fulfilled more effectively. During the training session, the participating officers also raised questions regarding various features and procedures of the e-procurement system, which were answered in detail.
