IG Punjab directions: Search, sweep and combing operations intensified, as well as security at inter-provincial border checkpoints, remained on high alert
On the orders of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, security remained on high alert across Lahore and the province on Friday. IG Punjab had issued directions to further strengthen security at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, markets, sensitive locations, foreign consulates and other important installations. In accordance with the directions of the IG Punjab, police patrolling was increased around mosques, imambargahs, business centres and highways, while checking of suspicious vehicles, suspicious individuals and luggage was further intensified at the entry and exit points of Lahore as well as all other cities.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that maintaining law and order and ensuring the protection of the lives, properties and belongings of citizens is the foremost priority of Punjab Police. He directed all DPOs and senior police officers to remain present in the field, personally review the security arrangements and ensure effective monitoring at all sensitive locations. IG Punjab further ordered that personnel deployed at inter-provincial border police checkpoints should remain on maximum alert, while strict vigilance should be maintained over Fitna Al-Khawarij, Fitna Al-Hindustan and other anti-state and mischief-making elements. He directed that search, sweep and combing operations around mosques, imambargahs, foreign consulates and other important and sensitive locations should continue without interruption to provide citizens with a peaceful and secure environment.
