Punjab Police actively ensuring enforcement of traffic laws

More than 4.843 million driving licences issued during the current year, Punjab Police spokesperson

Punjab Police is continuing effective measures across the province to ensure efficient public service delivery and enforcement of traffic laws. As part of these ongoing efforts, more than 4.843 million driving licences have been issued during the current year. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 5.830 million traffic challans were issued for violations of traffic laws, while fines exceeding Rs. 11.16 billion were imposed. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that challans were issued to 45,881 smoke-emitting vehicles, 6,871 vehicles were impounded at police stations, while the fitness certificates of 28 vehicles were also confiscated. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has directed that action against traffic law violators should continue without interruption and that the implementation of the amended traffic laws, reforms and modern traffic management system must be ensured at all costs. He said that the crackdown should continue against those involved in overloading, over-speeding, underage driving, one-way violations and other dangerous traffic offences. IG Punjab further directed that the strictest action should be taken without discrimination against traffic law violators and that effective measures should be adopted to recover outstanding dues from traffic challan defaulters.
