A 42-member delegation of trainee officers from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) visited the Central Police Office Lahore on a study tour. The delegation comprised 39 Assistant Election Commissioners, two Research Associates and one Assistant Director. During the visit, the trainee election officers met Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem. On the occasion, AIG Operations Sarfraz Virk gave the delegation a detailed briefing on the security arrangements made by Punjab Police during general and by-elections, as well as the measures undertaken before and after the electoral process. The delegation was also briefed on the infrastructure of Punjab Police, technology-driven policing, the public service delivery system and various reform initiatives. The participants were also taken on a tour of the Punjab Police Museum, the Control Room and other important sections established at the Central Police Office.
Speaking on the occasion, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police appreciates the important role of election officers in the electoral process and provides comprehensive security to election officers, polling staff and all election-related activities to ensure the peaceful conduct of every election. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem also inquired from the trainee officers about the various stages of their training and the experience they had gained. He also responded to various questions raised by the members of the delegation. At the conclusion of the visit, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem and the delegation exchanged commemorative souvenirs. Additional IG Investigation Shahzada Sultan, Additional IG Training Asim Gulzar, DIG Training Munir Ahmed Zia Rao, DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq and other officers were also present on the occasion.
