LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Punjab Police on the 18th anniversary of those who embraced martyrdom in a bomb blast while performing duty in Islamabad. The IGP said that the Punjab Police salutes the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, adding that their courage and devotion to duty will always be remembered along with the sacrifices of their families. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, on July 6, 2008, nine police officials embraced martyrdom in a bomb blast while performing security duties in Islamabad.The martyrs included ASI Muhammad Nawaz, Head Constable Atta Ullah, and Constables Abid Rasheed, Khalid Mehmood, Babar Ali, ShahidMaqsood, Haq Nawaz, Amjad Iqbal, and Qamar Abbas.
