Punjab Police Enforce Strict Security Arrangements Across Punjab on 3rd Muharram-ul-Haram and Friday
Over 30,000 Officers and Personnel Perform Security Duties Across Punjab of Processions and Majalis on 3rd Muharram-ul-Haram: Punjab Police spokesperson
On the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, strict security arrangements were ensured by Punjab Police across the province including Lahore on the occasion of the 3rd of Muharram-ul-Haram and Friday. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 30,000 officers and personnel across Lahore and the province performed security duties for mourning processions and Majalis. A total of 148 mourning processions and 3,843 Majalis were held across the province. In Lahore, 10 mourning processions were taken out on the 3rd of Muharram-ul-Haram, and 411 Majalis were held. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that more than 17,000 community volunteers assisted in the security arrangements of Majalis and mourning processions across the province. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that security will remain on high alert across the province during the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram, and full implementation of Section 144 imposed by the Government of Punjab will be ensured.
IG Punjab said that aerial firing, display of weapons, dissemination of hate material, and provocation are prohibited. Processions and Majalis will not be allowed at any place other than the designated routes and venues. He further said that all activities are being fully monitored with the help of cameras of the Safe Cities Authority and district administration. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem stated that CTD, Special Branch, Traffic Police, Dolphin Squad, PRU, and other field formations have been deployed on Muharram security duty. He directed officers to strictly ensure compliance with the Loudspeaker Act and to take effective action against lawbreakers involved in spreading hateful content on social media. IG Punjab further said that control rooms established in all districts are linked with the central control room of the Central Police Office and are in constant contact to monitor the security situation.
