Comprehensive Measures Underway for the Protection and Rescue of Children Affected by Child Labour, Begging and Violence, IG Punjab
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, in his message on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, said that child labour is a serious social evil that adversely affects children's fundamental rights, education and health. Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Safe Punjab Vision, Punjab Police is continuing its full cooperation with all relevant institutions for the elimination of child labour and the protection of children. IG Punjab said that coordination with the Labour Department, Social Welfare Department and the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau is being further strengthened to effectively address child labour, prevent the exploitation of children and improve rehabilitation measures for affected children. He said that joint operations with relevant institutions for the protection and rescue of children subjected to begging, forced labour and violence have been further enhanced. Punjab Police is providing full security to Child Protection Bureau teams during child rescue operations across the province to ensure that children are rescued in a safe environment and provided with rehabilitation facilities. IG Punjab further said that Punjab Police is actively engaged in rescuing children affected by child labour, begging and violence in all districts, and legal action is continuing in accordance with the law. He expressed the resolve that Punjab Police will continue to take comprehensive measures, in collaboration with relevant institutions, for the elimination of child labour and the protection of children's rights.
