Excellent Traffic Management in Murree During Eid Holidays; Safe and Peaceful Environment Provided to Tourists
Inspector General Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, has appreciated the officers and personnel of Punjab Police for ensuring excellent security arrangements, effective patrolling, vigilant monitoring, and a coordinated strategy across the province during Eid-ul-Adha. IG Punjab said that the CCPO Lahore, RPOs, DPOs, traffic officers, and other senior officers remained present in the field throughout Eid and ensured the protection of citizens' lives and properties. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that the Safe Cities Authority played a significant role in maintaining cleanliness, public order, and overall security through continuous monitoring and surveillance in Lahore and across the province. Owing to effective security measures, the Eid-ul-Adha holidays remained largely peaceful. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that operations against lawbreakers continued during the Eid holidays. Twenty-two individuals were arrested for illegally collecting sacrificial hides. Thirty-one persons involved in one-wheeling were arrested and 17 cases were registered against them. Furthermore, 10 individuals involved in aerial firing were arrested, cases were registered against them, and illegal weapons were recovered.
Spokesperson further said that 17 suspects were arrested for displaying weapons and creating fear and panic among citizens. Additionally, 80 individuals were arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act, and 83 cases were registered. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that indiscriminate action against lawbreakers and anti-state elements should continue without exception. Meanwhile, DPO Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer said that Murree Police and Murree Traffic Police ensured excellent security and traffic management during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays. No untoward incident occurred during the first three days of Eid, while a total of 70,375 vehicles entered Murree during this period. DPO further said that, compared to last year, a significant reduction in traffic pressure was recorded during the first three days of Eid this year. Despite the arrival of 31,016 vehicles on the third day of Eid, traffic flow remained smooth. Compared to the previous year, 38,202 fewer vehicles entered Murree on the third day of Eid.
He added that effective monitoring and a controlled entry system remained operational at all entry points. Priority was given to families, tourists with hotel bookings, and genuine visitors. Continuous monitoring was maintained on the Phulgaran Expressway and National Highway. Search operations, checkpoints, hotel eye verification, and Travel Eye verification measures remained active throughout the Eid operation. Effective coordination was maintained with Islamabad Police, Motorway Police, and the district administration, resulting in a safe, peaceful, and convenient environment for citizens and tourists. DPO Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer further said that, due to the hard work, professional strategy, and effective coordination of Murree Police and Traffic Police, unnecessary traffic congestion was successfully prevented in the city. He said that the convenience, security, and traffic discipline of tourists remained the top priorities during Eid-ul-Adha, and all relevant departments ensured the success of the Eid operation through mutual cooperation.
