Inspector General Punjab Police Abdul Kareem chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office in which a detailed review was conducted of the overall security situation across the province and the security arrangements of the Eid-ul-Adha. During the meeting, RPOs, CPOs, DPOs and concerned police officers participated via video link and briefed the IG Punjab regarding security measures. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that security at mosques, places of worship, cattle markets, market places, important installations, embassies and sensitive locations be placed on high alert during Eid-ul-Adha. He said that security for Chinese and other foreign nationals, consulates, residences, and workplaces should be further strengthened, and strict security arrangements must also be ensured during their movement. IG Punjab directed that, in consultation with police officers, Special Branch, CTD and other security departments, security protocols for Chinese and foreign nationals should be reviewed and the existing security orders should be made more effective.
He instructed RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to personally visit the field and inspect security arrangements at mosques, places of worship, important installations and sensitive locations. Abdul Kareem directed the further strengthening of security at inter-provincial border police checkpoints and buildings of law enforcement agencies. He said that personnel deployed at inter-provincial checkpoints must remain highly alert while performing duties. IG Punjab directed strict monitoring of anti-state elements including Fitna Al-Khawarij, Fitna Al-Hindustan and others. He instructed that intelligence-based search, sweep and combing operations should continue without interruption, especially in inter-provincial border areas. He also directed to further accelerate the ongoing deportation campaign against illegally residing Afghan nationals and other foreign illegal immigrants.
IG Punjab said that, with the help of Safe City cameras, continuous monitoring of markets, business centers, places of worship and other sensitive locations must be ensured so that immediate action can be taken against any suspicious activity. The meeting was attended via video link by CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs, while Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nekokara and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat were present in the meeting.
