During current year, 5,367 members of 2,104 gangs arrested, heavy quantity of weapons, vehicles, cash and other items recovered.
Punjab Police is continuing vigorous operations against organized gangs across the province including Lahore. According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, during the current year, 5,367 members of 2,104 gangs were arrested. During these operations, stolen property worth Rs. 1 billion 23 crore and 03 million was recovered from the possession of the accused. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that 166 vehicles, 3,502 motorcycles, 3,234 mobile phones, 1,759 cattle and 857 tolas of gold were also recovered from the possession of the accused. In addition, a heavy quantity of weapons was also recovered from the accused, including 327 Kalashnikovs, 639 rifles, 11,472 pistols, 889 guns and 263 revolvers, while 45,384 bullets were also recovered. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem, while directing to further accelerate operations against criminal elements, said that protection of the life and properties of the people must be ensured at all costs.
