Punjab Police crackdown against proclaimed offenders and absconders continues across the province

More than 58,000 proclaimed offenders, over 20,000 court absconders, and 11,000 habitual criminals arrested۔ 37 dangerous proclaimed offenders wanted from abroad also arrested; IG Punjab praises police teams

Punjab Police’s vigorous crackdown against proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and habitual criminals involved in serious crimes is continuing across the province. According to a spokesperson of Punjab Police, 58,964 proclaimed offenders have been arrested across the province including Lahore during the current year. Among those arrested, 16,294 belong to Category A while 42,670 belong to Category B. Similarly, 20,921 court absconders have also been arrested across the province, including 3,017 from Category A and 17,904 from Category B. Spokesperson further stated that during the crackdown, 11,606 habitual criminals were also arrested, including 4,597 from Category A and 7,009 from Category B. In addition, 37 dangerous proclaimed offenders wanted in serious crimes and residing abroad were arrested and brought back to Pakistan, which is a significant achievement of Punjab Police. In the provincial capital Lahore as well, during the crackdown, 11,315 proclaimed offenders, 6,758 court absconders, and 2,782 habitual criminals were arrested. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem appreciated the performance of the police teams involved in arresting proclaimed offenders and court absconders and lauded them, directing that actions against criminal elements should be further intensified.
