IGP Complaint Center 1787 Ensuring Prompt Redressal of Public Complaints

Over 25,000 Complaints Resolved This Year, Monitoring System Upgraded: Spokesperson Punjab Police

The process of resolving citizens’ complaints at the Punjab Police IGP Complaint Center 1787 is ongoing, and in this regard, more than 25,000 complaints received at the center have been resolved during the current year. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, said that complaints received from citizens are being resolved within the stipulated timeline in accordance with SOPs. He said that the monitoring system has been further strengthened to make the performance of the 1787 Complaint Center more effective. IG Punjab further said that DPOs themselves are monitoring the complaints received on the 1787 complaint system to ensure their prompt redressal.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that significant progress has been achieved in resolving complaints of various nature, including 12,137 related to registration of cases and 6,277 related to slow investigation. Similarly, 1,820 complaints related to police services and more than 5,000 complaints of departmental and other nature have been resolved. Furthermore, 1,354 complaints related to arrest of accused, 2,303 related to recovery, and 1,265 related to faulty investigation have been resolved. As many as 667 complaints regarding cancellation of false cases and 421 related to change of investigation have also been addressed. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has advised citizens to contact the 1787 Complaint Center without hesitation in case of any complaint against police officials.
