On the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, security remained on high alert across the province on the occasion of Good Friday and Jumu’ah Mubarak. Police officers and personnel performed their duties at mosques, imambargahs, and Christian places of worship with full diligence and a sense of responsibility. Under the IG Punjab’s guidance, all supervisory officers ensured robust security for the worship and religious sites of the Christian community on Good Friday. Over 13,000 officers and personnel were deployed for security duties at 2,270 programs held across the province. Following IG Punjab’s instructions, additional personnel, snipers, and commandos were deployed at sensitive churches, and participants were allowed entry only after complete checking and identification.

IG Punjab further instructed that senior police officers personally monitor security arrangements at churches during Easter. Dolphin, PRU, and Elite Force personnel were directed to ensure effective patrolling around sensitive locations. IG Punjab also said that, on the occasion of Easter, security should be further strengthened not only at Christian religious sites but also at parks and recreational locations. On the directives of IG Punjab, DPOs along with senior police officers visited local mosques on Jumu’ah Mubarak and listened to public grievances after the Friday prayers. IG Punjab said that, in accordance with the spirit and teachings of Islam, mosques are being made an effective center for community engagement so that citizens’ issues can be addressed at their doorstep.
