LAHORE - Leading police golfers from across Pakistan delivered outstanding performances at 12th J.A. Zaman Memorial Golf Championship at the Lahore Gymkhana Club, with top performers emerging as the highlight of a competitive and spirited event. Patron Pakistan Police golf team DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana was the organiser of the tournament, which brought together professional, amateur, and veteran golfers from various police departments, showcasing an impressive standard of play. Participants from Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Islamabad competed with enthusiasm, reflecting the growing strength of golf within Pakistan Police. Throughout the competition, players demonstrated remarkable skill, composure, and consistency on the course, with several standout performances earning recognition at the closing ceremony. Commendation certificates, shields, and prizes were awarded to the leading performers in acknowledgment of their excellence and competitive spirit. Speaking at the conclusion of the event, DIG Suleman Sultan Rana praised the participants and emphasised the importance of sports in enhancing the physical and mental capabilities of police officers. He noted that golf, despite being a technically demanding sport, was played at an impressive level by police golfers. He further highlighted that police players are increasingly making their mark in national and inter-provincial competitions.
Reaffirming institutional support, he said that the Punjab Police will continue to provide full patronage and encouragement to golf, alongside other sporting disciplines, to promote a healthy and competitive culture within the force. The tournament also witnessed the participation of several distinguished senior and retired officers, including former Inspectors General Chaudhry Yaqoob, Shoukat Javed, Tariq Khosa, and Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, along with retired DIGs Pervez Rahim Rajput and Chaudhry Tasadduq. Senior serving officials, including Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Wasim Sial, and Athar Ismail Amjad, were also present on the occasion. A strong contingent of players represented various regions, including SSP Ghulam Murtaza from Karachi, Abdul Haq Umrani from Islamabad, and players from Quetta Police such as Shahid Parvaiz, Shahzaib, Atta Muhammad, Muhammad Amir, and Asif Khan. Women golfers, including Shehzadi Gulfam and Riffat Hanif, also participated, adding diversity and competitive depth to the tournament.
