IG Punjab Pays Tribute to the Great Sacrifice of Martyred Constable Umar Aftab
All Available Resources to Be Utilized for the Arrest of Absconding Robber, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem
Another brave personnel of Punjab Police embraced martyrdom in Gujrat while protecting the lives and property of citizens during an encounter with robbers. According to details, Constable Umar Aftab of Punjab Police, who was posted at Jalalpur Subatian Check Post under Police Station Kharianwala, Gujrat, was martyred as a result of firing by unidentified robbers. It is noteworthy that this is the second martyrdom in Punjab Police within the last 24 hours.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, paid tribute to the great sacrifice of Constable Umar Aftab and said that the welfare and complete care of the martyr’s family would be ensured as a top priority. During the exchange of fire, one robber was killed by the firing of his own accomplice, while another managed to escape. The IG Punjab directed that all available resources be utilized to arrest the absconding suspect. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that two unidentified motorcycle-riding robbers snatched jewelry and cash from a family and fled the scene. The police pursued them, upon which the suspects opened intense fire on the police party. During the exchange of fire, Constable Umar Aftab was hit by a bullet in the head and was martyred on the spot. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the fleeing suspect.
